Kathy is currently Group Chairman of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. She was formerly Chairman at Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) from November 2016, having previously held the role of CMFT Non-Executive Director since March 2013 and CMFT Senior Independent Director (SID) since March 2016.
Kevin Green, Academy Principal
Principal, Mr Green, originally began his career in engineering, completing a four year apprenticeship and working for the Ministry of Defence. He subsequently set up a sub-contract engineering company with a colleague, before selling the business to embark on a new career in teaching. Mr Green’s teaching career spans twenty years, working in five schools, three of them being deemed ‘outstanding’ providers. He has progressed from being a teacher of Design Technology, through to Curriculum Leader for this subject before moving into senior leadership. He was an Assistant Principal responsible for Key Stage 4 for five years before moving to Manchester Health Academy as Vice Principal.
Appointed 30th September 2013. Sam Simpson joined the NHS over 20 years ago as a trainee on the North West Financial Management Training Scheme and has a broad range of experience across mental health, acute and community providers as well as commissioning and the strategic health authority (Greater Manchester and the North West). Sam is the Director of Finance at Tameside & Glossop Integrated NHS Foundation Trust and has previously held Finance Director roles in Manchester and Cheshire & Merseyside. Sam also has experience of working within other public sector bodies, including Local Authority, University and two years at Greater Manchester Police where she was the finance lead for the Commonwealth Games
Tom is an Associate Solicitor in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution team at Slater Heelis Solicitors. Tom qualified as a Solicitor in 2013 and specialises in commercial litigation.
David Cain (In Attendance)
Appointed 27th October 2012. David is Chairman of the Academy’s Governing body and has been associated with the Academy since 2006 and Chairman since 2009. He is actively involved in education and is also a Governor of the Bacup and Rossendale Grammar School in Lancashire and was for 8 years Deputy Chairman of the Manchester College Group. David is a Senior Consultant Adviser to the Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) and the Deputy Chairman of the MFT Charity Fundraising Board.
He is Chairman of the Manchester Health Academy and Chairman of the Corridor Manchester Executive Team.
David`s earlier career was as an NHS Chief Executive of a number of NHS Trusts in Manchester and Liverpool and currently he is Vice-Chairman of the National Executive Committee of Managers in Partnership (MiP) representing Senior NHS Managers, he serves on the National Executive Committee of the First Division Association of Civil Servants (FDA).
His interest in Charities extend to his role as Chairman of the Pain Relief Foundation in Liverpool and as a Board member of the Ronald McDonald House Charity ( Manchester) and also as Deputy Chairman of the Alex Group Care Home for Disabled Adults in Accrington., Lancashire.
