Year 8 students at have been recognised for their work in listing their local war memorial at the Manchester Evening News Schools Awards 2016, where they made the final three in the Active Community Awards category. One of our students accepted a certificate on the group’s behalf at a glittering ceremony hosted by DJ Mike Toolan at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester, accompanied by History Subject Leader Miss Morris and Director of Specialism Mrs Walker,
Manchester Health Academy is one of 200 schools around the country involved in Historic England’s Heritage Schools Programme which has been set up to encourage school children to develop an understanding of their local heritage and its significance. They are the first school group in the North of England to have helped to place a local war memorial, the Northenden Cenotaph, on the National Heritage List for England – Read more here.
