Community

Manchester Health Academy works closely with members of the community and encourages parents to play an active role in supporting children’s education.

We pride ourselves on being the community hub of West Wythenshawe. We work closely with members of the community and encourage parents and local businesses to play an active role in supporting education. Partnerships with organisations and businesses broaden and deepen young people’s learning and enables them to achieve success in wider contexts enhancing the curriculum and developing the perspectives of both students and members of the community.

Working with parents/carers, businesses and community groups, the Academy has established an ethos of working together for the benefit of all. Students regularly participate in fundraising events and actively take part in various Academy productions, performances and trips. Community links are fully embedded into the life and work of the Academy.

The Academy has strong links with local organisations, including local businesses, the emergency services, religious establishments and other educational establishments. We also work closely with community residents such as parent/toddler groups, the older generation and work alongside parents carrying out various activities such as cookery classes.

We have a community facility which is attached to the Academy. The facility is open seven days a week for local community members and organisations enabling them to access state-of-the-art fitness and recreational equipment and facilities and provides the opportunity to promote and enhance health and fitness within our local community.

Becoming the hub of the community has been – and continues to be – a priority.
