Ten students spent the day at the Christie Hospital at a Career Insights Day recently. This was hosted by GM NHS Careers Hub. Alongside students from five other local secondary schools, they took part in interactive sessions focused on specific careers, including MRI scanning, health promotion, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, radiotherapy, clinical skills and surgery.
The Academy’s Director of Health Specialism, Mrs Walker, said “It was an eye opening experience and a privilege to be invited to the Christie. The hospital staff were brilliant with our students. The students experienced six different workshops which were interactive and very engaging. They were really inspired by what they saw and all of them took part without exception. The day provided a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain a real insight into the types of careers that exist in a hospital environment, including some specialist roles.”
