Mental Health Awareness Week

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week.  Mental Health is a real priority at the Academy, and Mental Health Awareness week provides a great opportunity to focus on it.

Form tutors will be talking to students in their form time sessions, delivering information provided by our Welfare Team, and all students will be given a leaflet about mental health.  Additionally, Welfare Lead and Academy Counsellor, Mrs Evason, provide a Mental Health drop in service every break time during the week.

On Tuesday, Miss Sheridan will lead guided mindfulness sessions for students and a guided meditation for staff.

Also on Tuesday, the regular Parent/Carer Mental Health and Wellbeing Drop In Session will take place.  This is held every term-time Tuesday, 2pm – 4pm, and is open to all Academy parents and carers who have a concern about their child’s mental health and wellbeing – just come to main reception.

Brook Advisory Service will be visiting the Academy during break and lunch on Thursday to offer period advice, and to give students lots of free alternative and well known sanitary products. This is another regular session that will take place each month, that aims to take the stigma out of talking about periods, and to provide a source of free sanitary protection products for students who need them.
