Manchester Health Academy launches an Adult Reader Programme

Here at the Manchester Health Academy we are passionate about giving our pupils the best start to their adult life. In order to do this, we must ensure, before anything else, that all our students have literacy skills that enable them to access all their subjects. With this in mind, we are opening our doors to suitable volunteers to join our Adult Readers Programme.

How does the programme work?

Adults within our school community will give their time to the Academy to sit and listen to our students read and help them when needed in order to improve their literacy skills. Any training required will be provided. You can give as little as an hour a week; it has to work for you.

How do I become an Adult Reader?

To apply to become an Adult Reader, simply contact our HR Officer, Tracy Mellor, who will be able to send you an application form, or e-mail her at [email protected] .  As with all roles working with children, there will be a DBS check in order to safeguard students.

We look forward to welcoming you to the team!
