Wear a Hat and Purple Day Success!

Staff and students donned hats and purple in support of two charities, Brain Tumour Research and Epilepsy Action recently.

Year 9 student, Leeta, made a special request for the Academy to support the two charities, which are both close to her heart.  Leeta’s Dad, Mark, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2015, which causes him epileptic seizures.

A total of £452.66 was raised, the highest total that we have ever raised at the Academy on a one-day event!  Brain Tumour Research received £310.16, whilst Epilepsy Action received £142.50.

Leeta said, “I feel appreciated because everyone has supported me with this”.

Ms Storr, Alternative Provision Manager, and Ms Rex, Alternative Provision Tutor, said, “We are both really proud of Leeta for her efforts with organising this. She has done a remarkable job, it’s great to see her being a role model in the Alternative Provision Centre.”
