Behaviour

MHA will be a very different kind of learning environment for our young people, with an emphasis on the importance of mutual respect. Excellent student behaviour will be a strong feature, and we aim to build a very positive and supportive culture. Students will be required to show respect for members of the wider community.

The concept of good behaviour and respect will be built into students’ learning experiences and will be a big part of what and how the young people are taught. They will be encouraged to think about wider issues and the impact of their actions. They will also receive one-to-one mentoring and will be closely supported.

All staff within MHA will take responsibility for the campus and relationships with the community, as well as the well-being and development of students.

On a practical level, there won’t be a huge disruption to local residents before, during and after the end of the MHA day. There will be staggered start and finish times, so only a proportion of the students will be coming or leaving at any one time. There will also be staggered and shorter lunchtimes and, with a range of excellent eating facilities on site, we anticipate that the vast majority of students will choose to stay within the Academy for lunch.
